So, what is reality? Some see patterns all around them, intentionality and purpose, and some see nothing but chaos. (In truth, we probably all see some of each at different times in different contexts.) Whether we perceive order or disorder depends upon the tint of our glasses, so to speak. The glasses are our consciousness, the filters through which we observe, analyize and understand what goes on both outside and inside ourselves. This is a very new and exciting frontier for all of us. Freud began to ask some questions about 1900, and began to form a body of terminologes to investigate and document patterns of human thought and behavior. Carl Jung continued the investigation, writing Man And His Symbols and pioneering dream interpretation. Joseph Campbell contributed, Hero With A Thousand Faces, documenting universal patterns and stages of human maturation from childhood to adulthood. In 1954, the Pulitzer Prize was awarded to two physicists for their research in human consciousness. Many, many others, both artists and scientists, women and men, from all over the planet, are increasingly challenging common definitions of what is real and are asking these vital questions. “ Who am I, in truth? What am I doing here, really? What set life in motion, where is it leading us, and hoe does my life fit into the big picture? ” How can we understand this widespread and radical re-evaluation of life? One major factor is that humanity, quite recently, has developed the technology to destroy all of life in an hour or so. That changed everything. The consequences of ignorance suddenly threatened the very continuation of life, and if we cannot survive we have no chance We'll either develop the consciousness of the oneness of humanity or we could all suddenly cease to exist. I'm no doomsdayer. I am, however, a radical realist and I see that the king of modern materialism definitely has no clothes. What do you see? I encourage you to deeply reflect on making a commitment to getting and staying awake and open to alternative realities, to seeing with clearer vision and to acting as if we where all interconnected, because in truth, we are.
